Angharad Percy - Humanistic Counsellor

Life is challenging and life events can affect our ability to cope. There are therefore many reasons why people seek therapy. Perhaps there is a specific issue you would like to explore or perhaps you are struggling more generally with difficult and painful emotions such as uncertainty, anxiety, hopelessness or a loss of meaning. Whatever the reason, I believe that with the right person, therapy can help you navigate these challenges and has the potential to help you find greater meaning, clarity and purpose.

About me

As a humanistic counsellor I hold a deep respect for your own, unique experiences and what they may mean to you. I offer a non-judgemental, empathic space in which we can begin to explore your experiences together. If you are new to therapy, the prospect can be a daunting one but we will do this at a pace that feels safe for you and in a way that feels most comfortable. For me the therapeutic relationship is key and therefore our first session will be an opportunity for us to feel whether I’m the right person for you.

I believe that over time, gentle and compassionate exploration can lead to a re-framing of experiences and a greater level of understanding and self-awareness. This increased awareness can also shine a light on the extent to which your choices and behaviours are rooted in past strategies which perhaps once served you but are now unhelpful. Such insights can bring a feeling of freedom around choices you may make going forward as well as promoting self-compassion.

Training:

I hold a postgraduate diploma in humanistic psychotherapeutic counselling from the University of Brighton. As well as completing my training at New Road, I have also had experience of working at Cruse Bereavement Care where I supported clients with grief and loss.
