Jack O’Connor - Trainee Integrative Psychotherapist
Often, people come to therapy in order to make some sort of change in their lives. You might be struggling to cope with the overall daily pressures of life or with something specific like a bereavement or a chronic illness. You might be facing problems in your relationships, whether romantic, with family members, or in the workplace. You may feel overwhelmed or disconnected from your feelings. Whatever your reason for coming to therapy, I will provide a non-judgmental space where, together, we can explore your experiences on a deeper level. Through a deeper understanding, you can gain new perspectives, which can lead to new possibilities in life.
As a trainee integrative psychotherapist, I draw upon various different approaches depending on your needs. These include humanistic, existential and psychodynamic. I work relationally, meaning the relationship we build together will be central to the work, which I see as collaborative. The focus of the work will be on the feelings that come up for you in the present moment, though it may be helpful to look back at your childhood as well. Finally, I find it is often helpful to tune into bodily sensations, alongside thoughts and feelings.
I adhere to the BACP ethical framework.
