Marcie Boyer - Existential Psychotherapist, BACP
Sometimes we need a place to figure things out. Therapy can be that place. A place to be heard, to heal, and reflect on ways to live our fullest life.
As an existential psychotherapist, I work holistically with clients to safely explore themselves, their lives, and where they find themselves in the world. Walking side-by-side with my clients, I support them to find the courage to face some of life’s most difficult challenges, heal pains from the past, and see new possibilities for living. Drawing from a rich palette, I integrate psychodynamic, CBT, person-centred, positive psychology, trauma-informed, and mindfulness techniques into my work.
About Marcie
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Currently, I hold a post-graduate diploma and am completing a doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling. In 2017, I qualified as a Transformational Coach with an ICF accredited diploma. My doctoral research explores the experiences of mid-life women who made the decision to withdraw life support for their mothers, following a sudden life-threatening health event.
At the heart of my research and practice is working with the anxiety, grief, and trauma that comes from living, loving, and being in the world with others. I have experience working with issues and challenges arising from discrimination, immigration, and cultural differences, traumatic bereavement, parental relationships, as well as borderline personality disorder (BPD) and neurodivergent clients. I offer a safe and supportive space to help clients find meaning and healing following abuse, homophobia, racism, trauma, and loss.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist and coach, I worked in equality and diversity at the University of Brighton. And, in a previous life in the US, I was a Small Business Development Advisor for the State of Connecticut, owned a fair trade business, and developed IT systems for a multi-national pharmaceutical company. I have a BBA in Finance and Investments from the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, City University of New York.
