The Predictive Mind: How Expectations Shape Reality
13th May 2025 - BOOK HERE
Speaker: Rory Singer:
As therapists, we understand that our clients' experiences of the world are deeply influenced by their thoughts, beliefs, and expectations. But have you considered the powerful role that your own predictions and expectations play in shaping your therapeutic practice?
Informed by cutting-edge neuroscience—particularly the research of neuroscientists Lisa Feldman Barrett and Andrew Huberman—this interactive workshop will explore how the brain actively constructs perceptions and emotions through constant prediction. You'll learn how your mind continually manages internal resources, or your "body budget," influencing both your therapeutic effectiveness and personal resilience.
Through experiential exercises, reflective discussions, and practical insights, this workshop will deepen your understanding of:
How predictive processing shapes you and your clients' emotional realities.
The neuroscience of the "body budget" and its implications for stress, emotional regulation, and therapeutic attunement.
Practical neuro-informed techniques to shift predictive patterns, and enhance clinical presence..
Join fellow counselling and psychotherapy professionals to discover how a deeper understanding of your predictive mind can transform your therapeutic relationships, enhance clinical outcomes, and support your own emotional well-being.
Suitable for counsellors and psychotherapists at all experience levels interested in integrating contemporary neuroscience into their practice.
